Marine Technician - Pacific Northwest

The Opportunity:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Marine Technician to join a well-established, family-owned boat and yacht dealer in the Pacific Northwest. My client is looking to bolster their service staff with a Technician who values stability, professional growth opportunities, and is looking to grow within their organization. While they are open to candidates of all experience levels, their preference is for experienced Technicians with Yamaha Marine certifications, particularly in outboard engines. In this role, you will perform high-quality repairs and maintenance on a wide range of vessels, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and deliver top-notch customer service. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform rigging and setup of engines on new boats, primarily outboard.
  • Install and configure electronics like GPS, depth finders, and navigation systems.
  • Mount aftermarket accessories and ensure safe and proper installation and functionality.
  • Inspect and ensure proper functioning of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Conduct final quality checks to prepare boats for delivery or customer pickup.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with engines, electrical systems, and other components.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, and system inspections.
  • Repair and replace faulty parts on engines, electrical systems, steering, and hydraulics.
  • Test boats as needed to ensure proper engine and system performance.
  • Maintain detailed service records and communicate findings and recommendations to service support staff and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and dealership standards.
  • Collaborate with sales and service teams to ensure timely boat deliveries and assist in training Technicians as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Marine Technician, ideally in a Yamaha Marine dealership.
  • Yamaha Marine University, MMI, factory certifications, or other formal training/certifications pertaining to Yamaha Marine outboards
  • Experienced in all manner of rigging, included but not limited to rigging engines, steering systems, electrical wiring, control systems, fuel systems, and a host of accessories and aftermarket electronics
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to remain on an even keel in the face of adversity or high stress situations, and the ability to engage customers with professionalism, and offer solutions to meet their needs and ensure they leave satisfied
