The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking a Sales Engineer who is a self-starter and has the ability to blend a deep understanding of product development, with a high level OEM relationship building skills. This is a uniquely hybrid role for someone who can speak fluently in engineering terms, contribute meaningfully to product innovation, and open doors with boat builders, specifically in the pontoon segment. The ideal candidate is already well connected in the OEM Marine space, resides or is willing to reside in Northern Indiana, and has a demonstrated ability to spearhead business development efforts, and work cross functionally with Engineering and Product Development teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a bridge between Engineering, Product Development, and OEM customers, translating market feedback into technical solutions
- Spearhead new business development with a focus on pontoon boat manufacturers
- Identify opportunities for product innovation through CAD design, prototyping, and field testing
- Collaborate with OEMs to improve product performance and enhance the user experience
- Represent the company at industry events and trade shows
- Contribute to continuous improvement in a lean manufacturing environment
- Support sales efforts with technical insight and engineering credibility
- Manage early-stage customer onboarding before handoff to account managers
Qualifications:
- Experience in business development, sales engineering, or OEM account management in the Marine industry
- 3+ years in product development, industrial/product design, or technical sales related to Marine OEMs
- Proficient in 2D/3D CAD and development of sewing patterns, tech packs, and prototypes
- Deep understanding of Marine-grade materials and design standards
- Strong communication and customer-facing presentation skills
- Proven negotiation and deal-closing abilities
- Hands-on, agile mindset with comfort in fast-paced settings
- Willingness to travel for OEM visits and trade shows
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Northern Indiana
- A personal passion for boating, sailing, or water sports is a plus
