Location: Southeast USA

About Us: We are dedicated to driving growth and innovation in the marine industry. We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team and help us expand our presence through effective sales and marketing strategies.

Role Overview: As a Business Development Manager, you will be the driving force behind our profitable growth. You will facilitate effective sales and marketing activities through retail dealership distribution channels within your assigned territory in the Southeast. This role involves prospecting new distribution opportunities, qualifying dealerships, assigning marketing territories, and negotiating dealer agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dealer Support & Training: Train dealer sales teams on retail sales tactics, products, and competitive differentiators.
  • Business Development: Provide strategic direction to dealer principals to support program requirements. Assist with marketing plans, sales targets, and model mix advice based on local market knowledge.
  • Market Analysis & Reporting: Conduct market analysis, identify missed opportunities, and implement market improvement initiatives.
  • Sales Management: Manage regional sales goals and ensure dealer compliance with sales programs.
  • Customer Feedback: Act as the primary channel for customer feedback on new product development. Gather and relay feedback from end customers and dealers to address market needs.
  • Event Participation: Represent brand at regional consumer boat shows, training events, dealer open houses, and other industry events, including factory and dealer events and sponsored training and meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in marketing, retail sales & management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in retail dealer management or as an account manager for competitive products. Experience in the boating industry and running or participating in industry events and promotions is highly favored.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Demonstrated selling ability and excellent presentation skills.
    • Effective communication skills with diverse audiences.
    • Strong customer service mindset.
    • Effective time management and delegation capabilities.
    • Understanding of effective dealership management fundamentals.
    • Team player with strong budgeting and analysis skills.
    • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
    • Proficiency in market demographics and sales statistics programs.
    • Computer proficiency, including contact management software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel frequently, including 15-20 weekends per year for sales support at various fun marine focused events such as boat shows, on water events, etc.
