The Opportunity:
The Lead Technician position is focused on enhancing shop efficiency, increasing revenue, and ensuring an excellent customer experience. The position involves technical expertise in diagnostics, as well as service, repairs, and rigging for recreational marine vessels, especially Yamaha and Suzuki outboard motors. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the service department, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of service and repair orders
  • Assist in editing, developing, and implementing shop processes and procedures to optimize productivity and enhance service quality
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on marine vessels and outboard motors, providing advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair expertise
  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues on various marine vessels and outboard motors
  • Execute repairs, maintenance, and upgrades on marine engines as needed
  • Manage and inspect work quality and safety across all service jobs, ensuring high standards and exceptional customer experience
  • Mentor, train, and support junior technicians, offering guidance on technical skills and repair methods
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
  • Assist in executing warranty claims with detailed documentation
  • Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors, management, and customers

Qualifications:
  • 4-5 years of experience as a Marine Technician, preferably in a leadership role
  • Certifications in Yamaha and/or Suzuki outboard motors are required
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and aftermarket accessories
  • Experience in developing and implementing shop processes
  • Computer literacy required
  • Understanding of the warranty reimbursement process preferred; experience in parts is a plus
  • Ability to engage customers and elevate the customer experience
  • Professional image and strong communication skills
