Northeast Region (must live within the territory)

Overview

The Director of Business Development is responsible for executing sales and marketing strategies for a group of dealers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. This role requires a high-energy individual with strong integrity, capable of managing multiple complex projects and fostering long-term relationships. Candidates must reside within the assigned territory and have MARINE INDUSTRY experience.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with dealers to identify key factors driving their success and support them in growing sales and improving customer ownership experiences.
  • Leverage industry knowledge and market data to assist dealers in developing effective sales, marketing, and customer service strategies.
  • Conduct regular visits to assigned dealers to maintain a deep understanding of their businesses and build strong partnerships.
  • Represent the brand at regional boat shows, supporting retail sales efforts and occasionally assisting with event setup.
  • Engage with retail customers to guide purchase decisions and address service-related inquiries as needed.
  • Train dealer teams on product knowledge, processes, and customer experience best practices.
  • Utilize technical expertise to address dealer and customer inquiries, collaborating with internal teams for problem-solving when necessary.
  • Establish new relationships with premium dealerships in open markets while optimizing dealer performance in existing territories.
  • Understand and promote sales and marketing programs to support dealers in meeting their purchase targets and commitments.
  • Provide feedback to internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market demands.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in dealer development, with expertise in the marine or powersports industries strongly desired.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and periodically visit the company’s headquarters.
  • Proficiency in web-based sales tools, CRM systems, and software like Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong business acumen, decision-making ability, and excellent negotiating skills.
  • Proven success in building and maintaining dealer relationships.
  • Exceptional organizational, presentation, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets.
  • Effective communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.
