Director of Engineering and Design

Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Engineering and Design to collaborate closely with the CEO in developing and executing a forward-thinking engineering strategy. This role is integral to our continued growth, focusing on designing the next generation of luxury yachts while driving innovation in engineering and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in the marine industry, with an emphasis on high-performance teams, build efficiency, and cutting-edge design.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of marine vessels, structures, and components.
• Use CAD software to create design sketches and digital models, ensuring the highest level of design precision.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments on proposed designs.
• Ensure designs meet company standards, marine regulations, and safety protocols.
• Work closely with engineers to ensure designs are functional, efficient, and innovative.
• Evaluate vessel and structure performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary design modifications.
• Oversee testing of models and prototypes to verify design integrity.
• Document design processes, specifications, and test results for future reference.
• Collaborate with construction teams to ensure effective production and build quality.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest marine technologies, trends, and regulatory requirements.
• Foster a culture of professional development, performance management, and retention within the engineering team.
• Ensure adherence to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance when necessary.
• Continuously analyze internal operations and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Develop and execute business strategies in collaboration with the CEO to meet short- and long-term objectives.
• Oversee production and engineering operations, collaborating with the CEO on sales management and budgeting for growth targets.
• Manage capital investment and expenses effectively to meet investor targets related to growth and profitability.
• Track performance, establish corrective actions as needed, and prepare detailed reports with both current and forecasting data.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with key customers, vendors, clients, partners, stakeholders, and internal teams.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• At least 10 years of leadership experience in engineering, with a focus on the marine or luxury yacht industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, inspire, and develop high-performing teams.
• Excellent business acumen, with a solid understanding of advanced planning and regulatory issues.
• Expertise in data analysis and performance metrics.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with a track record of resolving conflicts, building consensus, and negotiating effectively.
