The Opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional, ideally with a dealership Controller background to take ownership of the financial operations of a successful, longstanding and growing dealership. As Controller, you will oversee all aspects of accounting and financial management, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting to support strategic decision making. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance the day-to-day accounting responsibilities with long-term financial planning, while collaborating with department managers across sales, service, and parts operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and maintenance of the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor budgets, cash flow, and expense controls, providing management with timely and accurate insights to support decision-making.
  • Manage tax reporting, audits, and overall financial compliance in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with department managers to ensure accurate accounting of sales, service, parts, and rental operations.
  • Oversee floorplan financing for RV inventory, including tracking of interest expenses, curtailments, and loan payoffs.
  • Ensure proper accounting and reconciliation of factory incentives, rebates, and chargebacks.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard dealership assets, including cash handling and inventory controls, while ensuring proper segregation of duties.
  • Administer and optimize the dealership’s management systems, including Motility DMS and QuickBooks, ensuring accurate integration, data integrity, reporting accuracy, and effective staff training.
  • Advise ownership and senior management on financial planning, analyzing departmental profitability across sales, service, parts, rentals, and warranty operations.
  • Ensure compliance with dealership-specific regulations (e.g., FTC, DMV, payroll/tax obligations) and monitor lender, OEM, and vendor agreements for financial obligations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the dealership setting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and dealership accounting practices
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks required; experience with Motility DMS is a plus, systems are integrated
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience leading, supervising, and training accounting staff is a plus
  • Experience with tax reporting, audits, and compliance preferred
