The General Manager will lead all dealership and marina operations—including new and pre-owned boat sales, service, parts, marina and slip operations, storage programs, and overall customer experience—while driving profitable growth and operational excellence across this $25M+ business. This leader will guide a talented team of 25+ employees, ensuring aligned, high-performing department operations and a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The GM will play a central role in shaping strategic direction, strengthening OEM and vendor partnerships, optimizing inventory and storage utilization, and elevating customer satisfaction across every touchpoint. This is a highly visible leadership role for an experienced marine or dealership executive who wants to build on a strong foundation, grow market share along the Mid-Atlantic coast, and position the dealership and marina as the premier boating destination for offshore fishing, family cruising, and coastal recreation in the region.

With an industry-leading waterfront facility, a highly trained staff of 25+ employees, and a long-standing reputation for exceptional customer service, the company is regarded as one of the most respected marine retailers in the Mid-Atlantic. They carry premium brands including Pursuit, Everglades, Cobia, Sea Pro, and more, serving serious anglers, family cruisers, and offshore enthusiasts alike. The operation includes one of the region’s largest winter boat storage and service programs, a full-service marina with 50+ slips, and comprehensive rigging, commissioning, and maintenance capabilities that support hundreds of customers annually. They are dedicated to delivering a first-class boating, ownership, and service experience across all four seasons—from sales and delivery to storage, service, and everything in between.

The Opportunity:

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead day-to-day operations across new and pre-owned boat sales, service, parts, marina/slip operations, storage operations, and administrative functions to ensure a seamless, customer-focused experience.
  • Manage and grow one of the region’s largest winter boat storage businesses, ensuring efficient scheduling, haul-out/launch operations, winterization, shrink-wrap, and storage logistics that maximize utilization and profitability.
  • Oversee marina, yard, rigging, dock, and seasonal operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety throughout the boating season and off-season cycles.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to drive revenue growth, market share, and long-term profitability while maintaining a premium, concierge-level customer experience.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to department managers, setting clear goals, KPIs, and performance expectations; ensure alignment across sales, service, parts, marina, and storage operations.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, gross margins, departmental P&Ls, and key operating metrics; implement corrective actions to optimize results and protect margins.
  • Strengthen OEM and vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with brand standards, inventory and stocking strategies, co-op marketing initiatives, and after-sales service expectations.
  • Champion a “First Class Experience” culture, ensuring exceptional customer service, strong CSI, and long-term customer loyalty across showroom, dock, yard, and digital touchpoints.
  • Partner with sales and marketing teams to support local events, boat shows, in-water demos, and digital marketing initiatives that drive qualified traffic and brand visibility in the Mid-Atlantic coastal market.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent; implement training, coaching, and succession planning to build a high-performing, customer-obsessed team.
  • Ensure compliance with all marine industry regulations, environmental and safety standards, and internal dealership policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience in marine, powersports, RV, automotive, or related dealership environments; marine dealership or marina leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong operational knowledge of sales, service, parts, marina/slip operations, boat storage operations, and customer experience functions within a multi-department retail dealership.
  • Proven success leading and developing teams of 25+ employees in fast-paced, performance-driven environments.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, gross margin management, and KPI-driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and relationship-building skills with customers, employees, OEMs, and vendor partners.
  • A passion for boating and the coastal lifestyle, and a commitment to delivering best-in-class customer service while upholding a premium dealership and marina reputation.
  • Experience with Lightspeed or a comparable dealership management system preferred.
  • A hands-on, servant-leadership style—visible on the floor, engaged with customers and staff, and leading from the front every day.
