The Senior Director of Digital will own and execute the company’s digital business strategy across consumer retail and B2B channels. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this leader will be responsible for the end-to-end digital experience, product strategy, and performance of the eCommerce platform. The role will define the digital roadmap, drive cross-functional alignment, and deliver measurable results in revenue, conversion, and customer experience. Our Client is a well-established, national marine and boating distributor with an omnichannel presence serving both consumer and B2B customers. Through a combination of eCommerce, retail locations, and professional channels, the company provides a broad assortment of technical marine products and boating solutions. They are focused on delivering a best-in-class digital and in-store experience while accelerating growth across multiple channels.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Define the strategic vision for eCommerce and digital experiences across all customer touchpoints and translate that vision into executable roadmaps.
  • Lead product strategy, user experience design, development handoff, launch, and ongoing optimization of digital experiences across web and related channels.
  • Drive conversion optimization, revenue growth, and operational efficiency through rigorous, data-driven decision making.
  • Establish and track KPIs and success metrics for digital performance; continuously refine strategy based on analytics and performance insights.
  • Partner closely with Technology, Marketing, Merchandising, and Sales teams to align initiatives, secure resources, and ensure cohesive execution across the organization.
  • Present strategic recommendations, product roadmaps, and business cases to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of product owners, analysts, and other digital specialists.
  • Build a culture of customer focus, analytical rigor, experimentation, and continuous improvement within the digital organization.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools, marketplace strategies, and site analytics to enhance the digital experience and support omnichannel operations.

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience managing digital products and eCommerce initiatives from concept through launch and optimization.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing and developing teams of 3 or more digital professionals.
  • Proven track record of implementing digital experiences and managing complex, cross-functional projects in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in retail or eCommerce environments, preferably in specialty retail or technical product categories.
  • Strong understanding of user experience and design principles and the ability to translate customer needs into intuitive digital journeys.
  • Deep knowledge of web analytics platforms (e.g., GA4/Adobe, Looker, heatmap tools) and comfort making decisions based on data and insights.
  • Proficiency with eCommerce platforms (Salesforce Commerce Cloud experience preferred) and related technology stacks.
  • Experience with product management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA/Confluence, Figma, InVision) in Agile environments.
  • Strong understanding of conversion optimization, A/B testing, merchandising, and audience segmentation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a bias toward action and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience in online retail and omnichannel operations strongly preferred.
  • Marine or boating industry knowledge and passion for the category are a plus.
