V20 has been engaged by a high-quality boat manufacturer to identify two Business Development Managers (BDMs). Our client has been building premium boats for over half a century. Being vertically integrated ensures that our client delivers and maintains the highest industry standards. While this company has experienced significant growth over the years, its culture still feels like a family-run business.

The BDMs will drive profitable wholesale and retail growth by developing, expanding, and supporting the dealer network. This role blends dealer relationship leadership, retail execution, market intelligence, and disciplined accountability to expand market share and optimize distribution performance. The successful candidate will have experience in both retail and wholesale boat sales (desired, not required). This is a rare opportunity to join a premier boat manufacturer that is financially successful, with a deep history, and an excellent reputation. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Locations:
Upper Midwest and East Coast.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify, recruit, and onboard high-performing dealers in open or underserved markets.
Analyze territory white space and assign territories to optimize brand coverage.
Negotiate dealer agreements to support long-term profitability and market share growth.
Serve as a trusted advisor to dealer principals and leadership teams.
Provide guidance on marketing planning, retail targets, forecasting, inventory strategy, merchandising, showroom setup, and floorplan management.
Deliver retail sales training on products, competitive differentiators, and best-practice selling tactics.
Own territory wholesale, retail, and market share targets and monitor dealer compliance with sales programs and standards.
Review market data and registration trends to identify share gains, losses, and improvement opportunities.
Act as the voice of the customer by collecting and relaying feedback from dealers and end users.
Represent the company at regional and national trade shows, consumer boat shows, training events, dealer open houses, and industry programs.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
3–5 years of experience in dealer development, account management, regional sales, or retail dealership management.
Experience with trade shows, industry events, and field-based sales activities required.
Boating industry background or strong enthusiasm for the industry preferred.
Strong selling skills including prospecting, qualifying, negotiation, and closing.
Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and time-management skills.
Ability to analyze market data, financial ratios, competitive trends, and sales reports.
Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and basic CRM/contact management tools.
