The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking a skilled Powertrain Test & Calibration Technician / Engineer with experience in both dynamometer and vehicle-based calibration development. In this role, you will analyze test results, conduct vehicle and laboratory testing, and calibrate critical powertrain functions including engine control, transmission control, and emissions systems. The position plays a key role in optimizing powertrain performance and ensuring systems meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and reliability targets.
Benefits:
- Base Salary: $95,000 – $120,000 depending on experience

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform calibration development on dynamometer and vehicle platforms to optimize powertrain performance.
- Develop and refine calibrations for engine control systems, transmission controls, electronic throttle control, diagnostics, and emissions functions.
- Conduct vehicle testing and system evaluations in a range of operating conditions including extreme temperature and altitude environments.
- Analyze test data and results to identify performance issues and develop corrective solutions.
- Evaluate powertrain functionality and system behavior during real-world vehicle operation.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional project teams to support development objectives.
- Ensure powertrain calibrations meet reliability, regulatory, and customer performance targets.
Qualifications:
- Experience with calibration software tools such as ETAS INCA, ATI VISION, or Vector CANape.
- Ability to read and interpret control algorithms from embedded C-based software documentation.
- Hands-on experience with both dynamometer and vehicle-based calibration development.
- Strong understanding of powertrain systems including sensors, actuators, and electronic control systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data and present findings clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards related to emissions and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) systems is preferred.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in both laboratory and application-based environments, including dynamometer facilities and real-world vehicle testing. Engineers and technicians may conduct testing in challenging conditions such as extreme heat, cold climates, or high-altitude environments. Collaboration with engineers, technicians, and project teams is essential to ensure successful development, calibration, and performance optimization of powertrain systems.The position is onsite.
