The Opportunity:
The Director of Operations is responsible for the daily operations and consistent output of boat production. This role drives operational excellence through lean manufacturing principles, disciplined process improvement, and strong workforce leadership. The Director of Operations ensures production efficiency, quality standards, cost control, and on-time delivery of boats while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and process improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily leadership and management to direct reports to ensure department alignment with the adopted mission, operational strategies, and culture of the Company.
  • Supervise product integration and production process improvements adhering to quality and efficiency standards, while collaborating with the Engineering and Design teams.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring employees follow safety protocols consistent with Company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the organization.
  • Maintain high quality standards through on-the-floor interaction with employees to ensure quality and accuracy in each step of the production process.
  • Work closely with the scheduling team to maintain an efficient boat production schedule.
  • Participate in the development of the Company’s plans and programs and drive profitability through effective execution of the Company’s strategic plan.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and employee development.
  • Work closely with internal groups and departments including shipping, sales, scheduling, quality, finance, and customer service to troubleshoot problem areas, and improve business processes for each department through analysis and collaboration.
  • Review and compile monthly reporting activities, as required.
  • Lead the advancement and implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives in production.
  • Collaborate with department managers to develop financial plans and budgets for special projects and capital projects, as well as annual budgets.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering or other related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 to 12 years of supervisory or management experience in a medium to fast paced manufacturing/operations environment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint) and possess the ability to analyze, organize, and present data and information utilizing these applications.
  • Must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, QC, costing, project management and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products.
  • Demonstrated success implementing lean manufacturing systems, specifically in the areas of continuous improvement, elimination of waste, 5S, Kaizen events, and visual management.
  • Experience in marine manufacturing is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (subject to MVR) and be willing and able to travel occasionally.
