Our client is seeking a passionate and technically driven Marine Technical Service Representative to support its growing marine engine division from its state-of-the-art Marine Technology Center in Michigan. This highly visible role combines technical troubleshooting, dealer and OEM support, field service, warranty analysis, product validation, and customer relationship management. The Marine Technical Service Representative will work directly with dealers, OEM partners, boat manufacturers, and end users while supporting some of the industry’s most advanced marine propulsion systems.

The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking a passionate and technically driven Marine Technical Service Representative to support its growing marine engine division from its state-of-the-art Marine Technology Center in Michigan. This highly visible role combines technical troubleshooting, dealer and OEM support, field service, warranty analysis, product validation, and customer relationship management. The Marine Technical Service Representative will work directly with dealers, OEM partners, boat manufacturers, and end users while supporting some of the industry’s most advanced marine propulsion systems.

This position offers a unique blend of hands-on technical work, on-water testing, customer interaction, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Operations, and Product Development teams. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working around boats and engines, traveling to customer locations, and playing a direct role in improving the overall customer experience and product performance.

Benefits:
  • Starting compensation range $75,000 - $85,000 annually, based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for marine customers, dealers, OEMs, boat manufacturers, and end users
  • Diagnose engine and system issues by phone, email, and on-site visits
  • Review and approve dealer warranty claims, including labor, parts, and freight evaluation
  • Track, analyze, and report warranty trends on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
  • Analyze returned parts and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to create service bulletins and technical documentation
  • Support service school curriculum and technical training programs
  • Support engine and drive installations and conduct post-production inspections, including hardware and software review
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting at dealerships, OEM facilities, and remote sites as needed
  • Assist with new boat testing, product installations, boat setup, and on-water performance validation

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working with internal combustion engines, including professional, personal, or hobby experience
  • 2+ years of boating experience
  • 1+ year of customer service experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of marine powertrains and engine systems
  • Ability to work independently with a positive, customer-focused mindset
  • Strong time management, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally, often on short notice
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with good manual dexterity and visual acuity
