The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking an experienced dealership accounting manager to oversee full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll administration, financial reporting, and compliance activities across multiple areas of the business. Working closely with ownership and leadership, this individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day to day operations, and helping ensure the continued financial health and efficiency of a stable, growing organization. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage full cycle bookkeeping activities across multiple areas of the business, ensuring accurate and timely financial recordkeeping
  • Process payroll accurately and maintain compliance with all applicable payroll tax requirements and filings
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other financial records
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including vendor payments, invoicing, collections, and expense tracking
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and other financial documentation for ownership and leadership
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales tax reporting and related filings
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and audit ready financial records across all business operations
  • Support month end and year end closing activities and coordinate with external accountants, CPAs, and tax professionals as required
  • Assist with inventory tracking, reconciliation, and reporting activities as required
  • Manage permits, licenses, and other recurring compliance requirements to ensure timely renewals and filings
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency, and adjust processes and implement corrective actions accordingly
  • Serve as a trusted financial resource and true advisor to ownership by providing accurate information, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting sound business decisions

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or related financial experience required
  • Previous accounting experience within a dealership environment required; experience in marine, automotive, RV, powersports, agricultural equipment, heavy equipment, outdoor power equipment, or similar industries will be considered
  • Proven ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Experience managing accounting functions across multiple business units, departments, or entities preferred
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks (Desktop & Online preferred)
  • Experience working with dealership management systems (DMS) and integrated accounting platforms preferred
  • Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger management
  • Knowledge of payroll tax requirements, sales tax reporting, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to prepare accurate financial records, reports, and supporting documentation in a timely manner
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with ownership, leadership, vendors, external accountants, and financial partners
  • Demonstrated stability and longevity in previous roles strongly preferred
  • CPA designation or progress toward a CPA is a plus
