The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking an accomplished Service Manager to lead a well-established service department at an important and growing dealership in their network. The incoming leader will be trusted to evaluate the operation, refine workflows, elevate Technician productivity, and create greater consistency across scheduling, communication, quality control, and financial performance. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide hands on leadership and daily oversight of the service department, establishing clear expectations for performance, accountability, communication, and customer care.
  • Manage the department’s overall financial performance, including revenue, gross profit, labor utilization, expenses, and P&L results.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable Service Advisors, Technicians, and other service personnel.
  • Oversee scheduling, dispatching, workflow, and shop capacity to maximize technician productivity, efficiency, and departmental throughput.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs and use performance data to identify opportunities, address deficiencies, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure repair orders are properly documented, accurately estimated, appropriately authorized, and completed within established timelines.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the service process, proactively addressing concerns and resolving escalated issues with professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Oversee warranty administration to ensure claims are accurately documented, submitted promptly, and managed in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Parts department to improve parts availability, reduce repair delays, and strengthen overall fixed operations performance.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and retain qualified service personnel while supporting the continued development and advancement of existing team members.
  • Establish and maintain effective service processes, quality control standards, and safety practices throughout the department.
  • Review work in progress, aging repair orders, comebacks, and customer satisfaction trends, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Maintain productive relationships with manufacturers, vendors, and other external partners supporting the service operation.
  • Work closely with ownership and dealership leadership to evaluate department performance, establish goals, and execute broader operational initiatives.
  • Ensure the department operates in compliance with company policies and all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of RV service department experience, including at least 2 years in a Service Manager role. Candidates whose experience has been exclusively in service management should have 5+ years of direct Service Manager experience.
  • Prior experience as an RV Technician, Shop Foreman, or Service Advisor is strongly valued, providing a practical understanding of shop operations, repair processes, customer communication, and the day to day demands placed on the service team.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, developing, and holding accountable Service Advisors, Technicians, and other service personnel.
  • Demonstrated ownership of service department P&L, with the ability to manage expenses, drive revenue, protect gross profit, and improve overall financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of service workflows, scheduling, dispatching, and shop capacity planning to maximize technician productivity, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Experience monitoring and improving departmental KPIs, including labor utilization, repair order cycle time, work in progress, comebacks, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Hands on leadership style with the ability to establish clear expectations, earn the respect of an experienced team, and create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) is required.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturer warranty processes, including documentation requirements, claim submission, and follow through.
  • Strong understanding of parts operations and their direct impact on service efficiency, repair timelines, customer satisfaction, and overall fixed operations profitability.
  • Financially and operationally minded, with the ability to analyze performance data, identify deficiencies, and implement practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the judgment and professionalism needed to work effectively with customers, employees, dealership leadership, manufacturers, and vendors.
  • Professional and polished in appearance and presentation, with the maturity, credibility, and executive presence to represent the dealership effectively with customers, employees, manufacturers, vendors, and leadership.
  • Organized, decisive, and detail oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced dealership environment.
