General Manager

The Opportunity:
The General Manager will be responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of all dealership departments, overall customer satisfaction, and the public image of the business. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the CEO, the General Manager will establish financial, employee, and operational policies and goals while partnering with department managers to drive performance across sales, service, parts, and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish volume and profit targets for all dealership departments and work with department heads to ensure ongoing attainment of budgeted goals.
- Recommend and implement policies and programs that improve efficiencies, customer satisfaction, employee productivity, and overall corporate objectives.
- Partner with the COO to establish overall company direction and clearly communicate business goals and focus to all employees.
- Recruit, empower, and retain competent department managers across sales, service, parts, and operations.
- Meet weekly with individual department heads to review progress, results, and performance against goals.
- Manage all company assets and resources while maximizing operational efficiency.
- Establish, implement, and monitor compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, employment, and safety laws, maintain necessary permits, and coordinate relationships with supervisory agencies.
- Monitor operating procedures and revise them as appropriate to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Establish and maintain profitable, professional relationships with company vendors and manufacturers.
- Partner with department heads and the COO on hiring, termination, compensation, and performance reviews of all employees.
- Play an active, visible role in the marine industry, both locally and beyond.
- Ensure the dealership premises and all operating locations are clean, neat, and presentable at all times.
- Handle difficult and/or dissatisfied customer situations directly, ensuring timely and professional resolution.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Organizational Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Dealership business management experience required.
- DockMaster DMS and teamMarine CRM experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Spader/NCM dealership management principles preferred.
- Professional appearance and exceptional ability to lead and manage others.
- Expert knowledge of all facets of accounting and boat dealer business practices.
- Expert knowledge of manufacturers' policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate at a high level, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and process-driven.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
